1. Setting the Stage: TIME - Making a Daily Date With Yourself

Updated: Mar 9, 2021

Skincare, at it's essence, is a contract you make with yourself.

I can easily understand how life gets in the way: jobs, family, young children and sleep beckon us all! So, how do you make time to cleanse, hydrate, research and plan your routine? There's no point in giving yourself a 10-step AM routine if you need to be out the door in 5 minutes each morning. And if you don't pay attention to your PM routine when you do it last thing before bed then maybe you can do it right after dinner. Be honest with yourself and schedule yourself according to your availability. Be realistic about what you can and can't get done.

CONSISTENCY is the foundation upon which all successful routines are built. Until you are doing skincare every day you can't really say you have a 'routine'.

It's better to do a simple routine every night than to experiment with everything under the sun one night but then forget to wash on another night. There's an entire Skincare Heidi Challenge devoted to the practice of being CONSISTENT, - like any habit, this a behaviour that can be learned. But at this point in the process the idea is to look at yourself honestly and to form a picture of where you're currently at in your skincare journey.

WHERE ARE YOU AT? 💬 How consistent are you currently? AM and PM? 💬 When do you do your Skincare? Is it the same every day? Are there times when you regularly miss either your AM or PM? 💬 What times are easiest for you? Are there particular issues that crop up weekly or daily? What times are more of a challenge? 💬 What other obstacles or issues with time management affect your routines?

TO ADD TO YOUR BULLET JOURNAL: CONSISTENCY: list any obstacles you need to address in order to be consistent with your Skincare routine.
