SH DECIEM CHAT: January Re-boot

❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️☃️☃️☃️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️ ☃️☃️☃️ January Re-Boot ☃️☃️☃️ ☃️☃️☃️ & ☃️☃️☃️ ❄️ Defining Consistency Within Your Own Routine ❄️

December is tough on skin: late nights, extra make-up, rich foods, booze and maybe you fell asleep in your makeup once or twice. And then winter sets in, just when your barrier is suffering from everything you threw at it in December. So, all this got me thinking about how to get back on track after the holidays ☃️☃️☃️

💬💬💬 Let's Chat: How do you define Consistency for yourself? Do you define your routines as a DAILY list of specific products? WEEKLY? How to do keep track? How do you choose and introduce new products without messing up whats already working in your routine? Do you go back to what you were doing before or rebuild?

❄️❄️❄️☃️☃️☃️❄️❄️❄️ BEAT THE WINTER BLAHS ❄️❄️❄️☃️☃️☃️❄️❄️❄️ Now that the holidays are over it's time to get back on track. I'm guessing that a lot of you are also facing the same thing, maybe you are:

❄️ Going back to your regular routine.

❄️Trying to find Great Basics as you start to get serious about Skincare.

❄️ Getting serious about transitioning from basics to an Advanced Skincare routine and adding new actives.

❄️ Re-vamping or improving your current Advanced Skincare routine to suit your changing needs.

❄️ Finding balance within your current routine by tweaking your regular products.

Do any of these describe you? How will you get back to where you started? What changes will you make? Do you make a plan or just dive in?

❄️❄️❄️☃️☃️☃️❄️❄️❄️ WHAT WORKS FOR ME: I know that my skin won't be happy if I dive straight in with my full routine overnight - that's just too many actives at once. Also, with the winter upon me I know that I have to make my barrier my top priority. So my re-introduction will follow a time-table similar to the one I follow for new product intros.

☃️❄️☃️WEEK ONE: Consistently use my regular CLEANSERS - BASICS - HYDRATION - BARRIER SUPPORT. For at least a week I just want to make sure that I'm gentle and that all my regular go-to products are still working how I want them to.

☃️❄️☃️WEEK TWO: ACTIVES. Starting with the ones that most contribute to healing and recovery (copper, antioxidants), then continuing to stronger actives. I don't jump straight in with these either. I don't re-start more than one product at a time and I make sure that my skin is settled before adding the next one. This might take a week or two.

☃️❄️☃️AND LASTLY: EXFOLIATION. Since my skin is sensitive I don't want to dive in with any acids until I'm settled in and I'm sure my barrier is ready and needs it.

☃️☃️☃️❄️❄️❄️☃️☃️☃️❄️❄️❄️☃️☃️☃️ DON'T FORGET THESE KEY FACTORS FOR SUCCESS: This is the time to remember your limits! Even if you have a specific routine that you always go back to, you may need to be patient when re-building.

🌬️🌬️🌬️ THREE FACTORS will have the biggest impact on your successful introduction, so plan accordingly and increase only one factor at a time:

🌬️QUANTITY: how much product you use

🌬️FREQUENCY: how often you use a product

🌬️SEQUENCING: where you place the product within a routine and how you to can buffer/accelerate the product.
